Palco Jurássico
2013
Synopsis
From September to December 2013, artistic collective SillySeason was invited by the Clube Ferroviário de Portugal to promote an artistic programme for its TGV saloon. This program, named Palco Jurássico (“jurassic stage”), recovered the context of curatorial practices, associated with the fields of plastic and visual arts, and transferred them to the field of the performing arts.
This project promoted interartistic dialogues, not only through the diversity of the artistic proposals presented – the gathering of multiple artists from different artistic fields –, but also through the roles each artist plays in the Portuguese art scene. Palco Jurássico included emerging artists, still freshmen in terms of artistic production (Medalha d'Ouro, Orlando Furioso, Marta Ribeiro); established artists who have already received recognition in their work field (Mariana Tengner Barros, Miguel Bonneville, Pedro Penim), as well as mid-career artists, promoters of continuous and upward artistic activities (Daniel Gorjão, Há.Que.Dizê.Lo, Flávio Rodrigues).
Palco Jurássico presented countless performances by several Portuguese creators and promoted artistic research. It has included four proposals by SillySeason: a staged reading of the Greek tragedy Medea, with singer Mónica Sintra; the short film Frei Luís de Sousa; Hamlet – A Comic Tragedy, by Luis Buñuel, staged by actress and director Lígia Roque, and the play A Maluquinha de Arroios.
