Because her heart still beats, Madalena marries Manuel de Sousa (C\u00e1tia Tom\u00e9), with whom she has a daughter, Maria (Pedro Penim). Knowing nothing about her mother's past, Maria develops an unusual interest in war stories about Alc\u00e1cer Quibir and the unknown whereabouts of El-Rei Dom Sebasti\u00e3o. Her curiosity is fostered by her servant, Telmo (Ivo Silva), who eternally believes in the possible return of his former master. Should we waste the meaning of words by repeating them so much? Should we transfigure ourselves into images that are echoes of themselves, that are lost and encapsulate us in a temporal-space void?
