Prado de Fundo
2016
Synopsis
I bought a frame, but only afterwards took a picture. It is a matter of trust. A frame can be trusted, a picture cannot…
SillySeason drew inspiration from the 1903’s play by Anton Chekhov, The Cherry Orchard, to create Prado de Fundo, through which they seek to explore photography and its soothing representative power that desperately confirms the veracity of the events they have experienced. Even the ones that did not really occur. In Prado de Fundo, the infallibility of memory and the documents used in theatrical acts is questioned. It is as if revealing the hidden corners of a framed photography. Is it something less real merely because we are not able to see it?
